About Us

Located in picturesque Southwestern Ontario along the shores of Lake Erie, the Municipality of Central Elgin is a vibrant and welcoming community of over 13,000 residents. Formed in 1998 through the amalgamation of the Township of Yarmouth and the Villages of Belmont and Port Stanley, Central Elgin is part of the London census metropolitan area. It surrounds the City of St. Thomas and shares a boundary with the City of London.

Central Elgin is a community of communities, each offering its own unique charm and attractions. The municipality includes the population centres of Port Stanley and Belmont, as well as the communities of Dexter, Eastwood, Lawton’s Corners, Lyndale, Lynhurst, Mapleton, New Sarum, Norman, Sparta, Union, Whites, and Yarmouth Centre.
