Making Meet the Makers Bigger and Better: Rescheduling Announcement
In 2020, we’re announcing the postponement of Meet the Makers to align with Canadian Manufacturing month. The celebration of Manufacturing Month helps raise the profile of the manufacturing industry to youth, the workforce, the government and to the public.
Meet the Makers is an event targeted at elementary and high school students to highlight the worthwhile opportunities that our region has to offer, both in the present and in the future. It also allows the public to take a look at the surprising (and often unknown) products created inside the walls of local businesses.
Our decision to move the event to October will also be advantageous to students. Grade eight students can make post-elementary decisions based on what they learn from local employers, and grade 12 students will have a chance to consider their post-graduation plans with manufacturing as a possible path. All students will benefit from having time to affect their course decisions based on our region’s rich variety of local manufacturers and makers of all types.
We regret the delay in this year’s event but look forward to moving forward with the new St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce CEO, Paul Jenkins, to put on a bigger and better Meet the Makers event in 2020.
Meet The Makers - Showcasing Our Local Industries
Our goal is to share with everyone that our region offers plenty of worthwhile opportunities and showcase many of the surprising (and often unknown) products that our "makers" create right here in our own backyard!
